Budget gives relief for the farmers

The nearby hill areas of Thodupuzha have shown face in the budget. The new budget shows gratitude and relief to the farmers of these places. The budget includes 122 crore rupees for the development of the Cardamom cultivation in Idukki for the next 4 years through the Spices Board. As a result, 10 crore rupees will be spent in this year.Spices Board, established in 1987, got the highest incrementation through this budget, says Spices Board Chariman V.J Kurian.The re-cultivation of cardamom will be given the high priority this year.

The vanishing of Muvattupuzha and Kothamangalam from Ernakulam and also Pathanamthitta and Ranni from Idukki, from the map of Lok Sabha seats following the reconfiguration of constituencies by the Delimitation Commission is a loss for Ernakulam district, the central Travancore Region and the Kerala Congress.

The new Idukki constituency will have the Assembly segments of Muvattupuzha, Kothamangalam, Devikulam, Udumbanchola, Thodupuzha, Idukki and Peerumade. P.J. Joseph, leader of the Kerala Congress (J), says that the loss of Muavattupuzha would also mean a loss of one seat for the Central Travancore region. “The Kerala Congress belt has lost a seat, too,” he pointed out. The splintering of Muvattupuzha presents difficulties for the political parties too. Most parties have strong district units in Ernakulam with a well-organised organisational structure.

Idukki gets into the tourism map

The Central Government will support if the Kerala Government is readyto allot the place for the development of tourism places in Idukki. “For the development of tourism places in Idukki, small airports should be emerged”, says Francis George,M.P. His continuous application made the Central Government to forward the Project.

At present the tourists arrives in Cochin Airport and have to travel 5-8 hours to reach the famous tourist spots like Munnar,Thekkady,Idukki,etc.As a result of damaged road, tourist people are not interested to move to Idukki. So the upcoming airport projects could give an answer for these problems.

Vengalloor and Kolani will be upheld as the Satellite Cities

As the Vengalloor-Kolani Bye Pass is emerging soon, these areas will be having high advantage in future. From the begining itself these areas were not developed even though they are a part of the city. The traffic problem can be solved out after the arrival of this byepass. More than 10 crore rupees have been alotted for the development of this byepass.The aim of the development is to make Kolani and nearby places as developed area like Mangattu junction.
All the vehicles coming from Koothattukulam, Pala areas to Thodupuzha are arriving at Kolani and there is no doubt that this area will develop as a nearby town of Thodupuzha.
